So I don't know if anyone particularly noticed Victoria Schwab's post the other day...oh, who are you kidding. You know you're all over that already. If you didn't get the hint from that, here's the skinny. Victoria, Beth Revis (yes, the Beth Revis...the possibly launching a YA book into SPACE Beth Revis), Marie Lu, Marissa Meyer and Megan Shephard are all coming together for a very special tour.
Why is it special, you ask?
Well, first of all, LOOK AT THOSE NAMES. Think very well and hard on what they've written and how awesome they are. Think about that awesomeness combined four ways and hitting your town at the exact same time.
Are you biting your nails and bouncing in your seat now? Good. You should be.
Of course, if you're like me and have suffered decades of website-watching, tour following and eventually the pang of disappointment when you've realized this tour isn't hitting your vicinity, you're probably wary. Well, cheer up, my fellow book-lover, because the awesome thing about this tour is that it will be making a stop in your home town!
...That is, of course, if you win.
These four lovely authors will be collecting votes from January 1 to February 15 - that's actually a big window, so no going "Aww, man, I forgot." Mark it on your calendar. Learn how to wield the Refresh button with the skill of a ninja. Any city in the continental US or Canada (yes, Canadians, rejoice) that has an international airport is up for the contest. This includes an AUTHOR PANEL and a book signing!
Entering is very easy. Like, let go of that pillow you're hugging, click one button and then go back to dreaming of signed books easy. Just go here. That's it.
But, there's a bonus! If you help spread word about the contest, you can also enter to win a signed copy of all their books (that's TEN signed books). This, my dears, is also open internationally.
Yup, it seems like it was a good decision to survive the Apocalypse.
Why should YA2U come to my town?
Okay. I live in the untamed wilds of Long Island, NY. I'm not bidding for my hometown in particular, but I would like to bid for my county's library cooperative. Why? The young adult librarians are dedicated, fun, and they are all over authors. If they didn't try to scrape together an event now and again, we'd be stuck trekking to New York City all the time to see people.
Really. Living in New York (a.k.a. the publishing capital) is only fun if you live close enough to the publishing capital. If you don't, you're stuck weeping in front of your computer screen as your favorite authors file in and out of stores you are nearly able to touch...but can't.
Sad, right?
But anyway, back to my hometown - er, home cooperative. Want to know why our cooperative is so cool? Well, every year, we have this thing called Authors Unlimited, and the participating authors are greeted with a LIMO. Not only that, they get to walk up a red carpet, with a band and confetti and pom-poms. And they get their own volunteer assistants for the rest of the day; which means, if you love the author, you just have to apply and there's a 99% chance you'll be happily trailing them for the rest of the day.
Yes. We're awesome. We're fun. If you agree, and live here, too, you could vote. It doesn't hurt.
Why should YA2U come to your town?
Why not join in and tell us why your town is so awesome! (Well, it won't be as awesome as mine, but you can try.) Remember, the more votes that you collect, the closer you get to having your very own tour stop.
Also, if you help spread the word, you can also participate in the book giveaway. As a matter of fact, mention that I sent you to the contest and we'll both get extra entries! Not bad, huh?
So what are you waiting for? Enter that form. Visit that site and put in your town and cross your fingers. (Or, you know, if you're willing to donate your vote to my town's cause, that's cool, too.)
Best of luck!

Your home cooperative sounds amazing. I would totally follow an author around all day w/ pom-poms and my clarinet.
When I was at school in San Diego, the local bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy, would host author tours all the time. One of the perks of living in a well-sought out city!
