"Waiting On" Wednesday: Darker Still (Magice Most Foul, #1) by Leanna Renee Hieber

The Picture of Dorian Gray meets Pride and Prejudice, with a dash of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

New York City, 1880. Seventeen-year-old Natalie Stewart's latest obsession is a painting of the handsome British Lord Denbury. Something in his striking blue eyes calls to her. As his incredibly life-like gaze seems to follow her, Natalie gets the uneasy feeling that details of the painting keep changing...

Jonathan Denbury's soul is trapped in the gilded painting by dark magic while his possessed body commits unspeakable crimes in the city slums. He must lure Natalie into the painting, for only together can they reverse the curse and free his damaged soul.

Today, it was so hard for me to pick out just one upcoming release to feature, but this I think combines it all: my love of historical fiction, a twist on a spine-tingling classic, and a touch of supernatural to keep things alive. I'm just hoping that the actual volume delivers.

(And a little side-note, Jonathan is also another of those boys' names that I really think is awesome for a character. So right now, we have Jonathan and Nathaniel. And incidentally, I also adore the name Natalie for a girl. So what do you think? What are your favorite names for characters?)

I'm anxiously awaiting this one too! I love the Dorian Gray undertones that it's got going on! Favorite names? Hmmm... no names in particular but I tend to prefer shorter, one-syllable names in contrast to your apparent three-syllable preference...lol.
