Follow Friday (72111)

Q. Name three authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

Well, I actually experienced this earlier in the year with Anna Godberson (a private volunteer's-only breakfast before Authors Unlimited!), but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Sooo...

One author I can definitely say off the top of my head is Laini Taylor, because a) as I said before I think that pink hair on her head is the sign of an awesome person, and b) I just love the poetic way she writes, especially in Spicy Little Curses Such as These. *sighs* India and a fairy tale. Positively gorgeous.

Okay, who else? I'd love to meet Gail Carson Levine, because Ella has always been one of my childhood heroines, and she wrote in a way that touched my brave, needy little nine-year-old heart. So yeah. Even if I just got to hug her and blurt out like three questions about her writing process, I'd be completely satisfied.

Last one...well, I might fudge it and add two more...but then I'll stop and be good, I promise! I would've loved to meet and talk with Diana Wynne Jones, but, well, there's no way I could do that anymore, unless I believed in Spiritualism (which I don't). So, probably, Meg Cabot, simply because she writes super fast and I want to know HOW DO YOU DO THAT?! and she's pretty much written a title in every genre and that's something I aspire towards.

Okay. The last two I'm not supposed to add (but really want to). Gah. Forgive me.

Ally Carter. *insert squeal* To me, Ally is the queen of kicking bottom and taking names and positive feel good about yourself girl power - which, to be honest, there is a disappointing lack of in today's YA market. I'd love to sit next to her and watch her write and hope it rubs off onto me because seriously, she is amazing.

Neil Gaiman. Let's face it, the guy is good. Really good. He's like the greatest author of the 21st century. I'd just like to hear his experiences and dream of someday getting good at what I do.
