For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.
The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise's aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan's mysterious son, Eldric-who may or may not betray them.
So I think this whole faery court thing might be getting old now, but I still have to admit I love some good old-fashioned Fair Folk manipulations and/or kidnapping. Their world is not all rainbows and sparkles, you know. (I'd also love a good, unique retelling of Tam Lin, too, so if you know of one...)
That being said, this story still manages to come off a bit like Carrie Jones' Need (using the daughter to lure in the mother figure and all that). But then again, Need is one of the most unique fairy-based stories I know of to date, so that could be a plus for this story.
Yes? No? Well, I won't know until I read it.
Also, the cover. I love the background, but the girl's lips FREAK ME OUT. Anyone else agree?
